SUMMARY: They Found Him Dead The day after his sixtieth birthday celebration, an event marked by dissension among his family and houseguests, Silas Kane's body is found at the foot of a cliff. The coroner's verdict of misadventure becomes suspect, however, when Kane's heir is shot and killed in his study, and the next in succession receives death threats. The redoubtable Inspector Hannasyde is called to the case, in which the main suspect appears to be an 80-year-old lady. As the inspector brings to bear all his considerable powers of detection, it becomes obvious to him that someone among the houseguests and family members at the fateful weekend gathering must not be who they seem...
